ORDINANCE NO. 21-35

ESTABLISHING WATER RATES FOR RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERICAL WATER USERS FOR THE CITY OF IRONTON, OHIO AND DELCARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS,   the City of Ironton, Ohio contracted with Great Lakes Community Action Partnership to perform an independent assessment of the City of Ironton’s water system; and,

WHEREAS,   Great Lakes Community Action Partnership focused their attention upon the production, supply, and delivery of water to customers of the City of Ironton, Ohio in addition to the physical and capital needs of the Water Department; and,

WHEREAS,   the City of Ironton needs to maintain sustainability in providing safe drinking water to the customers it serves.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

IRONTON, OHIO:

SECTION I:              That the attached rate schedule, which is incorporated in this ordinance as if fully rewritten shall be implemented and go into effect July 1, 2021.

SECTION II:             Upon expiration of said schedule, rates will be adjusted annually on February 1, each year, based upon the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics preceding year’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) annualized inflationary rate.

SECTION III:           That this Ordinance is hereby declared an emergency measure for the protection of the public health, peace, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Ironton, Ohio.
