ORDINANCE NO. 11-08

REGULATING STREET SOLICITORS

WHEREAS, the City receives numerous requests from various charitable organizations to solicit funds on the streets of the City; and

WHEREAS, certain regulations need to be adopted governing such activities;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Ironton, Ohio, as follows:

Section 1: Anyone taking part in solicitations upon the streets of the City of Ironton, Ohio shall be 18 years of age or older.

Section 2: Such solicitations shall only occur on the first and last Saturdays of each month between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Section 3: That no organization can conduct said solicitations more than two times per calendar year.

Section 4: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept or deny any application for such activity.

Section 5: That applications to conduct said solicitations shall be available at the Mayor’s Office.

Section 6: That the Mayor shall not approve any applications for solicitations to occur simultaneously with any other major event occurring in the City.

Section 7: That all soliciting organizations approved for such conduct by the Mayor must have warning cones placed in the street. Said cones to be available for pick up and return to the City Street Department.

Section 8: All persons involved in the solicitations for the organization must sign a waiver of liability form provided by the Mayor before conduction the solicitation.

Section 9: That this Ordinance is hereby declared an emergency for the public peace and welfare for the citizens of the City of Ironton.
