UPDATE ON GREEN VALLEY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
June 25, 2024
The City of Ironton appreciates the patience that the residents of this area have shown during this disruptive project.
The contractor is continuing to install storm sewers and is planning to begin the next phase of construction on July 8th.
This phase entails removing a section of the existing roadbed and replacing it with a stabilization material. Once installed, this material must sit for several days to cure. Once cured, the contractor will place stone over the base to reopen it to traffic. The time required for each section of the street will depend on what the base is like when excavated and how much stabilization needs to be added. Each section of the street will be closed for anywhere from 7-10 days.
During this time, residents will not be able to access their driveways or the road where the work is taking place. Access will be maintained at all times for emergency vehicles.
Residents will receive notification from the contractor as to when this work will take place in their area and the attached exhibit shows the phasing.
Although the ultimate schedule may be affected by weather, excavated unknowns, and materials delivery, the tentative plan is to install underdrains, curbs, and pavement on all streets this fall.
