Columbia Gas of Ohio will begin working in Ironton in the month of June

Columbia Gas of Ohio will begin working in Ironton in the month of June. They will be using enhanced GPS technology to record the precision location of all their natural gas lines. This investment in safety will also improve their emergency response and maintenance of their facilities.

What does this mean for the residents of Ironton?

  • You may see Columbia Gas of Ohio vehicles, employees, and contractors on their property.
    Columbus Gas of Ohio’s team will be surveying the main line along their street and their service line on their property up to the meter.
  • Columbia Gas of Ohio may also need to complete light digging to un-earth curb boxes and critical valves at the street (this will never be more than shovel depth).
  • GPS equipment will consist of light surveying and measurement receivers.
  • The work will not require any entry into homes or buildings. If a community member has concerns about an invisible fence or animals please email

  • The work will continue in the area throughout 2021.
  • Even if you may not be a Columbia Gas of Ohio customer, a neighbor may be and they will still need to survey the area.
